Battalion Figure Marching Competition

There was a good turn out of boys and girls for the 2012 Battalion Figure Marching Competition from 4 companies.

With Margaret judging uniform and appearance, and Alan judging the marching there could only be one winner - dispite Alan insisting that they were all winners!!

They get younger every year but the 7th West Kent was not going to let that get in the way of a strong performance.

Well done to all who took part and lets get an even bigger turn out next year!

Battalion Church Parade

Well done to all that turned out for a wonderful church parade. We were truely blessed with sunshine on the way back even if it was a tad cold! The service at Eltham Park Baptist church was captivating!!

An onlooker asked if the parade could be done more often - I'll ask the boys, and girls!

See, evidence that the more that turn up - the better the feelgood factor! Well done - lets do it again sometime.

Beating Retreat 2011 at Wesley's Chapel

Beating Retreat was a real treat for our boys! There was plenty of Mayoral presence and the boys were invited to collect their London District Boys' Brigade Junior Section medals for winning first place in the Bible Quiz.

The team consisted of Matthew Brundritt, Hudson Farley-Moore, Daniel Ventura and Joel Flanagan. It was great to see the boys collect their medals from the London President.

The 5th Croydon were in fine form with their bagpipes too, which gave the opportunity for our boys to have photos with the 'men in kilts'! The Mayor and Mayoress of Greenwich were happy to talk to our boys after the proceedings and invited them to come along to see the new Woolwich Town Hall. A great evening, fine weather and plenty to be thankful for!

Recking ball success in Woolwich Barracks

Justin and co. where out again with the newly aquired Recking Ball inflatable. It certainly attracted the youth as they try to batter each other off their podiums!

It was a fantastic day with a show of strength from the the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery currently based in the Barracks.

There where plenty of other inflatables there, a hot air balloon, fun fair rides and stalls, other uniformed organisations, a military band, parachute jump, live music ... the list goes on!

There was also the opportunity to see Johnson Beharry - the soldier awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest military decoration for valour.

Young man of the year!

Congratulation to Craig Brown senior member of the 14th West Kent Bexleyheath Company who was recently presented with the Brigades newest book Planet BB. The book was to be presented to a member of the Battalion who has contributed towards overall company work.

Craig has had to face many challenges during his time in the BB - Not least the death of his young Captain James Ede
and the recent death of his Uncle John Bates.

During both funerals Craig has contributed greatly and carried himself with the utmost dignity and respect.

He is seen pictured receiving his award from his Grandad Peter Bates Battalion Honary Vice President.

Well done Craig!
